AI builders vs. template builders: what actually changes

For fifteen years, building a site without a developer meant picking a template and bending it to fit. It worked, but you always started from someone else’s idea of a website and spent most of your time working around it.
Where templates fall short
A template is fixed structure with blank slots. If your business does not match the slots — a bakery that also runs classes, a consultant with an unusual pricing model — you end up hiding sections, stacking workarounds, or settling.
What an AI builder does differently
An AI builder generates the structure from your description. The sections, copy and layout come from what you said, and when you ask for a change the code itself changes, not just a setting. You can add a booking flow, a dashboard or a pricing calculator without looking for a plugin that almost does it.
Real code instead of a locked editor
Moremade writes React and Tailwind — the same stack professional teams use. You can export it as a ZIP or push it to GitHub, so a developer can pick it up later without starting over. With most template builders, the site only exists inside their editor.
When a template is still fine
If you need a simple page today and the template matches your business almost exactly, a template is fine. The moment you want something that is yours — or something that does more than display information — describing it is faster than adapting it.
